Vehicle diagnostics via OBD-II scanner

A precise reading of your vehicle's electronics, to understand a fault before committing to any repair. Connection to the OBD-II port, reading and clearing of fault codes, interpretation and guidance. Twenty euros, around fifteen minutes — waived if a Bioclean service follows.

Understand before you repair

A warning light on the dashboard never tells you, on its own, what is actually happening under the hood. Electronic diagnostics consists of querying the vehicle's control units directly through the OBD-II port, present on every petrol vehicle since 2001 and every diesel since 2004. We connect a professional scanner to it and read the fault codes (DTCs) stored by the various systems — engine, ABS, airbag, air conditioning, transmission management. These codes are only a starting point: their value lies in how they are interpreted. Rather than replacing a part at random, diagnostics identifies the probable cause of a fault, rules out false leads and points you towards the work that is genuinely required. It is a step of clarity, not an act of repair.

  • 01

A cause identified, not a symptom

Reading fault codes via the OBD-II scanner isolates the system involved and directs the inspection. You avoid replacing parts needlessly on the sole basis of an illuminated warning light.

  • 02

    A clear, written report

Once the reading is complete, we hand you the list of codes, their meaning and our guidance. You leave with actionable information, whether the follow-up takes place with us or elsewhere.

  • 03

    Waived if a service follows

Diagnostics is charged at twenty euros, fully deducted if you then commit to a Bioclean service. The clarification step costs you nothing as soon as it leads to an intervention.

A four-step process (connecting the OBD scanner, reading the fault codes, interpretation and checks, written report and guidance) to identify the origin of an electronic or mechanical fault. Duration around fifteen minutes. Price 20 €, waived if a Bioclean service follows.

  1. 01

    Connecting the OBD scanner

We locate the vehicle's OBD-II port — usually beneath the steering wheel — and connect our professional diagnostic scanner with the ignition on. Communication with the control units is established within seconds.

  2. 02

    Reading the fault codes

The scanner queries every control unit and retrieves the stored fault codes (DTCs), whether permanent or intermittent. We note each code, the system involved and its status.

  3. 03

    Interpretation and checks

We translate each code into a probable cause, cross-checking live sensor values and ruling out secondary induced faults. This is the step that turns a list of codes into usable diagnostics.

  4. 04

    Written report and guidance

We hand you the full report, explain what was found and point you towards the relevant intervention. On request, the codes addressed can be cleared to check whether they return.

Service

What exactly does an OBD scanner diagnostic read?
The scanner connects to the vehicle's OBD-II port and queries the on-board control units. It retrieves the fault codes (DTCs) stored by the various systems: engine management, ABS, airbag, air conditioning, transmission. Each code points to a system and a type of anomaly. We record them, interpret them and, at your request, can clear them to observe whether they return.
Does the diagnostic repair the fault?
No. Diagnostics is a step of identification, not of repair. It serves to understand the probable origin of a malfunction and to point you towards the right intervention. Clearing a fault code does not fix the underlying cause: if the problem persists, the code will return. Diagnostics simply spares you from replacing a part at random.
How much does a diagnostic cost and how long does it take?
Diagnostics is charged at twenty euros and takes around fifteen minutes. If you then commit to a Bioclean service — decarbonization, steam cleaning, E85 conversion, A/C recharge or other — the diagnostic fee is fully deducted. VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.
Is my vehicle compatible with the OBD-II port?
The OBD-II port has been mandatory on every petrol vehicle sold in Europe since 2001 and on diesels since 2004. The vast majority of vehicles on the road are therefore compatible. If your vehicle predates these dates, contact us: depending on the model, diagnostics may still be possible by another route.
Can I get a loaner vehicle during the diagnostic?
Yes. The diagnostic is carried out at our La Ciotat workshop (24 Chemin du Vallon de Michel) and a free loaner vehicle can be provided subject to availability. To reserve one, call us on +33 6 71 12 82 93.
